Michael Elliott is the Managing Member of Michael S. Elliott, LLC, where he provides advice to the Commander of United States Strategic Command through the USSTRATCOM Strategic Advisor Group. He is the former Deputy Director for Strategic Stability Plans and Policy Directorate, Joint Chiefs of Staff. In this role, he was responsible for the formulation of joint staff positions and recommendations regarding strategic deterrence and nuclear policy.
Michael Elliott is the Managing Member of Michael S. Elliott, LLC, where he provides advice to the Commander of United States Strategic Command through the USSTRATCOM Strategic Advisor Group. He also also provides policy advice to the U.S.–France–United Kingdom Trilateral Dialogue, sponsored by CSIS, and the U.S.–Japan–Republic of Korea Trilateral Dialogue, sponsored by the Pacific Forum. He is a member of the Sandia National Laboratory Nuclear Deterrence External Advisory Board (NDEAB).
Mr. Elliott is the former Deputy Director for Strategic Stability Plans and Policy Directorate, Joint Chiefs of Staff. In this role, he was responsible for the formulation of joint staff positions and recommendations regarding strategic deterrence, nuclear policy, Department of Defense efforts to combat weapons of mass destruction, strategic arms reduction negotiations and agreements, as well as other international negotiations and agreements.
Mr. Elliott also served as the chairman’s representative to the New Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty negotiations with the Russian Federation. During the negotiations, he was charged with negotiating the conversion and elimination protocol as well as the agreed statements positions of the new Treaty. Prior to his work on the Joint Staff, Mr. Elliott served as the Deputy Director for Plans and Policy at United States Strategic Command.
Mr. Elliott earned a BA in Economics from UC Sacramento, a BA in Accounting From Bellvue University, and an MS in Human Resources Management and Services from Gonzaga University.
